At Happy Scales & Tails Exotics, we strive to ensure every customer is satisfied with their purchase. Please read our refund policy carefully:
Live Animal Policy:
Due to the sensitive nature of shipping live animals, all live reptiles, amphibians, and fish sales are final. We guarantee that all live animals will arrive alive and healthy if someone is present to receive the package on the first delivery attempt. If your animal arrives deceased or in poor health, you must notify us within 2 hours of delivery with clear photos of the animal and the shipping box. We will review the claim and offer a replacement or store credit at our discretion.
Feeder Food Policy:
Feeder insects and frozen feeders are perishable items and are non-refundable. If your order arrives damaged or with significant loss, contact us within 24 hours of delivery with photos for resolution.
Dry Goods and Supplies Policy:
We accept returns on unopened, unused supplies and equipment (e.g., enclosures, lights, décor) within 14 days of delivery. Items must be returned in original packaging and condition. The customer is responsible for return shipping costs unless the item arrived damaged or incorrect. Once we receive and inspect the item, a refund will be issued to the original payment method (excluding original shipping fees).
Damaged or Incorrect Orders:
If you receive a damaged or incorrect item, please contact us within 48 hours of delivery with photos and a description of the issue. We will arrange for a replacement or refund.

Adoption Policy

At Happy Scales Rescue & Rehab, our mission is to provide rescued exotic animals with safe, loving, and permanent homes. Every adoption helps us continue rescuing, rehabilitating, and educating the community about responsible exotic pet care. To ensure the best possible matches, we follow the adoption guidelines below.
1. Application Process
- All potential adopters must complete an adoption application in full.
- Applications are reviewed by our rescue team to ensure each animal’s specific care and habitat needs can be met.
- Submission of an application does not guarantee approval or adoption.
2. Habitat and Environment Requirements
- Adopters must provide proof of an appropriate habitat setup prior to adoption (photos or in-person inspection if applicable).
- Enclosures must meet or exceed the recommended size, heating, lighting, humidity, and enrichment requirements for the species.
- Safe, non-toxic materials and proper husbandry standards are required.
3. Veterinary Care and Knowledge
- Adopters are encouraged to have a qualified exotic veterinarian and provide their contact information during the application process.
- Basic knowledge of the animal’s dietary and behavioral needs is required. Educational resources are available upon request.
4. Adoption Fees
- Adoption fees vary by species and help cover the cost of veterinary care, food, housing, and ongoing rescue operations.
- All fees are non-refundable, as they directly support the rescue’s mission.
5. Post-Adoption Commitment
- Adopters agree to provide proper care, nutrition, and enrichment for the lifetime of the animal.
- If the adopter is no longer able to provide care, the animal must be returned to Happy Scales Rescue & Rehab. Rehoming through other individuals or organizations is not permitted without written consent.
- The rescue reserves the right to perform follow-up wellness checks to ensure ongoing care standards are met.
6. Special Needs and Bonded Animals
- Some animals may require specialized diets, medical care, or ongoing support. These animals will only be adopted to experienced caretakers who meet specific requirements.
- Bonded animals must be adopted together to preserve their companionship and well-being.
7. Our Right to Decline Applications
Happy Scales Rescue & Rehab reserves the right to deny any application if it is determined that the placement would not be in the best interest of the animal. This decision is made with compassion and the animal’s long-term welfare as the top priority.
